Value

Value. One definition the dictionary provides for the word is a fair return or equivalent in goods, services, or money for something exchanged. Value! A 5 letter word that encompasses the spirit of Pindrop Media. The word value comes from the Latin valēre which means “to be well, have strength.”

The question I implore you to ponder, as we at Pindrop Media do everyday is this, what value can one derive from that which you create?

That question lives in my mind as I believe it does in the minds of all creatives. Is what I am putting out into the world worth any value? A rather loaded question.

It’s this question that leads to draft after draft of a piece being tossed aside. It leads to the backspace key being used most so that after hours of working one finds themselves staring at a blank canvas again. It’s this question that stops many from ever putting anything out. The question that causes many to accept defeat. “I can’t do this. It isn’t good enough.”

My question to you is why not? Why not keep at it? Why not push yourself? Why not try something different? Why not experience the writers block? Why not rip every page from that pad and chuck it into the bin? Why not write your own story?

At Pindrop Media we don’t believe that growth and progress are linear. It is this spirit that allows us to keep pushing forward. Even when all the tea leaves and signs say otherwise. We believe that one has to stumble from time to time. We believe that if the question that keeps us awake at night plagues you too, then there will be many a moment where one deems their work as “not good enough.”

And that is okay. Because at Pindrop Media we believe the ones who ask themselves all these questions will uncover the value in us asking them “why not?” To be well and to have strength takes time. It takes effort. A lot of it! However, what lies on the other side is usually worth it. So that blank page, those crumpled up pieces of paper that lay all over the floor, those feelings of inadequacy, that’s what builds ones strength as a creator.

At Pindrop Media that’s where we believe the value of everything that will exist on the platform lies. Not everything we make is going to be a masterpiece, not everything we touch is going to turn to gold. But in a community where more and more of us ask the question “what value will this provide?” That’s where the true value of all our content will emerge.

Value begins with us - The creators. All the setbacks inevitably lead to a higher standard of creation and the strength it takes to persevere is the value our audiences will appreciate.
